To Be A Norseman
The Norsemen defense held tough and the offense put 15 points on the board to defeat L'Anse Creuse North. Mike Tolliver, Troy Williams, Ryan Gregory, Jake Simon, Ryan Jones, Desmond Malone, Nolan Rozich, and the entire defense held the Crusaders scoreless in the second half.
There were multiple key plays on defense. Desmond Malone recovered a fumble early in the game. Ryan Gregory pulled down an interception. Mike Tolliver also batted down a pass.
The offense had several turnovers in the first half. However they were able to bounce back. Tommy Watkins rushed for a touchdown in the second quarter to tie the game at 8-8. The Norsemen added the 2 point conversion after Watkins' touchdown. Late in the game Troy Williams scored a touchdown to give the Norsemen the lead 14-8. Steven Mack added the extra point to put the Norsemen ahead 15-8. The offense had a strong rushing game in the second half. Bradley Bland, Evan Locke, Kirk Gowen, Patrick Flynn, Mike Tolliver, and Jordan Ulmer controlled the line of scrimmage. The leading rushers in the game were Tommy Watkins and Troy Williams. A.J. Brooks had a drive saving completion to Jujuan Henderson.
Jimmy Guest saved the Norsemen from a huge change in field position. After setting up for a punt, the snap sailed over Guest's head. While being chased by a pack of Crusaders, he chased down the ball and managed to get off a great punt. Guest's fantastic play kept the Crusaders from getting the ball deep in Norsemen territory.
It was a great team effort. The Norsemen really picked up their game in the second half. It was a great day day to be a Norseman.
