Norsemen Take Cousino Down To The Wire
Jadon Cook Interception
The Norsemen defeated a tough Cousino team 21-19 Friday night. North and Cousino traded touchdowns in the first quarter. Tommy Watkins turned in another amazing performance. He scored North's first touchdown. Tommy also had a long touchdown called back because of a penalty. Cousino's defense spent a lot of time watching the back of the number 4 jersey.
Cousino was putting together a second drive and approaching the red zone. Jadon Cook came up with a huge interception to stop the drive. On top of the pick, he added a great return giving A.J. Brooks and the green offense great field position. The Norsemen had a strong running game all evening. The offensive line, composed of Kevin Wieczorek, Evan Lock, Kirk Gowen, Pat Flynn, and Mike Tolliver, created holes for Watkins, Troy Williams, and Jimmy Guest. A.J. Brooks also completed several key passes to JaJuan Henderson, including some key third down conversions. Henderson and Brooks also came up with a big two point conversion.
The Norsemen defense was also tough throughout the evening. Late in the fourth quarter the Norsemen held a narrow lead. The Patriots were trying to pass their way to some additional points. However the Norsemen front four applied some serious pressure on the Patriot QB. Mike Tolliver, Desmond Malone, Justin Elliot, and Greg Cox turned up the heat. The d-line forced several rushed throws and the defensive backs locked down the Patriot receivers. The defense forced a turnover on downs and let A.J. Brooks run out the clock. It was a key Mac White Division win for the Norsemen.
The Norsemen are looking forward to next Friday's game at Grosse Pointe South.
