Watkins and Norsemen Outrun Utica 35-30

Utica opened the game with a march downfield.  The Norsemen countered with a drive of their own. Tommy Watkins had several big rushes followed by a trip into the endzone.  The defense stopped the Chieftans' next drive.  Troy Williams stole a pass from a Utica receiver giving the green and gold great field position.  Again, A.J. Brooks and Tommy Watkins moved the ball downfield and put another 6 on the board.
Stephen Mack helped put points on the board by adding on the extra point.  Mack was strong all evening, adding to the Norsemen total.
The defense held Utica scoreless for the rest of the first half.  Ryan Gregory, Troy Williams, Jake Simon, and Mike Tolliver, along with the rest of the defense shut down the Utica attack.
The second half was a different story.  A Norsemen turnover resulted in a quick Utica touchdown.  Utica also attempted several onside kicks keeping the Norsemen offense on the sidelines.  Utica began to put points on the board with an impressive passing attack.  The Utica quarterback completed two long passes for touchdowns.  While under pressure from the defensive line, he threw up a prayer downfield.  Unfortunately his prayer was answered.
However, once Watkins, Brooks, and Williams took over on offense, the Norsemen continued to march downfield and put points on the board.  Utica was unable to keep up with the scoring attack.
Once again, it was a great day to be a Norseman.
